4. Explain how squaring a number is the the reverse of finding the square root of a number. Include an example with your explanation. Squaring a number is multiplying a number by itself and finding the square root of a number is finding a number that when multiplied by itself equals the value.
9. What is the area of a square with each side length
10. Determine the area of a square with each side length
18. A floor mat for gymnastics is a square with a side length of 14m. What is the area of the floor mat in square meters?
21. Kate is going to put a patio in her backyard. The patio stones she is using each have an area of 1m2. She has created a rectangular design shown.
a) What is the area of the patio
b) What are the dimensions of another rectangular patio she could build with the same area
c) Kate decides to make a patio with the same area but she wants it to be a square with whole number side lengths. Is this possible? Explain your reasoning.
That's all the answers to questions 4, 9, 10, 18, and 21 hope this helps.
Pythagoras Questions:
1. Answer in a short paragraph and with diagrams Answer: The pythagorean relationship is a2 + b2 = c2. That means that a2 (we'll say its 3) + b2 (we'll say its 4) should = c2 (we'll say its 5). It also says that a and b the legs should equal the hypotenuse 5.
2. Solve the missing side length ANSWER:
P. S. don`t forget to put your answer on to the triangle
3. Is this a right triangle PROVE IT!!! Answer: IT IS NOT A RIGHT TRIANGLE!!!
Pay i forward is a move that somebody created. Pay it forward is doing something for somebody that is helpful and expect nothing in return. Then you could that for a couple of other people then you could ask them to do the same for somebody else. Then they could do the same. After you would have started a gigantic chain of people doing helpful or kind things for each other.
Part 2
My pay it forward act of kindness was that I raked up a couple of houses in my neighborhood. I chose this activity because when I was walking home one day I saw a bunch of my neighbor's lawn were covered in leaves. Then I was thinking "maybe they don't have the time to rake up the leaves." The people that I helped were people in my neighborhood whose leaves were not raked. I went up to there houses and asked them if I could rake up their lawn's for free, if they said yes then I would do the best I could. I did my act of kindness on Sunday, November 13, 2011.
Part 3
My act of kindness was great, although I was scared I gained more confidence along the way. I raked up their front yards big or small and their leaves by the street. I felt really good about making them happy and scared when they had a dog. My neighbors reacted with confusion because when I said for free but when I told them about pay it forward that confusion went away. When I finished each yard I asked them if they would pay it forward to somebody else and all of them said "of course" or even "why wouldn't I."
Part 4
I think pay it forward is important because if everybody helps each other the world would be in perfect balance. Which means everybody would be helping each other and would be kind to each other. That is why pay it forward is important.
1.Use your notes to list the different types of graphs. Please list the advantages and disadvantages of each graph.
Bar Graph:
Advantage: It compares data across categories
Disadvantage: It may not be accurate because of the intervals
Double Bar Graph:
Advantage: It compares two sets of data across categories
Disadvantage: It can only compare two sets of data and it may not be accurate because of the intervals and what they are
Circle Graph:
Advantage: It compares data to the whole using percents
Disadvantage: You have to calculate to find out the percentage
Line Graph:
Advantage: It shows changes of data over time
Disadvantage: It only shows data that changes over time
Pictograph:
Advantage: It compares data that can be easily counted and is represented using pictures
Disadvantage: When the picture is cut it is hard to determine how much is cut off
2. How can graphs be misleading. Show 3 ways
-Put a break in the y-axis
-Distorting the visual
-Distorting the bar size
3a) The following chart shows Pizza Sub Sales over a month. What 2 graphs would show the information accurately?
I would use a line graph and a bar graph
3b)If you were selling Pizza Subs would you continue? How does your graph explain your answer.
If I were selling pizza subs I would continue because I have been selling more and more pizza subs each week, so if I continue there will be a better chance I will sell more
4a) Below you see 2 different examples of graphs showing healthy choices sold at the canteen. If you had to convince Mrs Mota that we should continue selling healthy choices which graph would you choose?
I would choose the pictograph to convince Mrs. Mota because it is easy to read and understand the graph.
4b)Change each graph so that your information looks even MORE impressive. You may not change the data just the graphs.
Here's a video to help you more about bar graphs......
Part to Part Ratio-compares different parts of a group to each other
Part to Whole Ratio-compares one part of a group to the whole group
Three term Ratio-compares three quantities quantities measured in the same units
Two term Ratio-compares two quantities measured in different units Rate- a comparison of two quantities measured in different unit Proportion- an equation which states that two are equal
Task 2
Task 3
What are 3 ways you can prove that equivalent ratio statements are true
3/4 = 12/16 or 4/9 = 16/32
1) You can do it horizontally
2) You can do it vertically
3) You can do it diagonally
Task 4
Task 5
1) Does this seem fair? - No I do not think this is fair.
2)With what you know about proportion look and read what is in the image above. Does it seem fair? Why have you made this choice? -No I do not think this is fair because the first man got put in jail for 3 years for stealing 3 BILLION DOLLARS! and the homeless man got put in jail for 15 years for stealing only 100 dollars.
3)What would you have done if you were the judge?- If I was the judge I would have put the guy who stole 3 billion dollars in jail for 15 years and the homeless man in for a year.
