Danicka's Surface Area & Volume post

Rectangular Prism

Net

l x w
T=5 x 10=50m
F=10 x 6 = 60m
S=6 x 5 =30m
TSA = 2(T+F+S)
= 2(50+60+30)
= 2(140)

14)Estimate each value,to one decimal place.Check your answer with a calculator.
Estimate: a) 3.6 b)9.3 c)11.6
calculate: a) 3.7 b)9.2 c)11.6

8.Identify all possible whole numbers with a square root larger than 2 and smaller than 3.

17)Carmel wants to mount an 18cm x 18 cm square picture on a square board that is four times the area of the picture.
a) What is the area of the picture? 18x18=324 cm2
b) What is the area of the board? 324x4=1,296cm 2
c)What are the dimension of the board? √296 =136

1.Pythagorean relationship means that the two legs(a^2+b^2) equals c^2 or the hypotenuse

3)I messed up on this one.

Danicka's Pay it Forward

Part 2

What was your Pay It Forward act of kindness? My friends and I raked the leaves

Why did you choose this activity? so we can help /keep the community clean .

Who did you help?The neighbour

What did you do?rake the leaves and picked up trashes.

When did you do you act of kindness?weekend(nov.12)

Part 3

How did your act of kindness go?very well

How did you feel?

I felt good because i did something to pay it forward

How did the person or people react?we didn't see their faces

Did you ask the person or people to "Pay It Forward"?no

If you did not ask the person to "Pay It Forward" how come? I guess we forgot

Part 4

Why is the idea of "Pay it Forward" important? because when you did something good to someone, like e.g. you helped 3 people then if they asked you how to pay it back you say 'pay it forward' then the 3 people you've had will help 3 person then so in total you get 9 people

Has your act of kindness made a difference?yes, it helped the community clean

Danicka's Graphing Post

1. Use your notes to list the different types of graphs. Please list the advantages and disadvantages of each graph.

Bar graph Advantage: best for comparing data across categories
Disadvantage:
depending on the scale/intervals it may be difficult to identify the exact number of data

Double bar graph advantage:
best for comparing two sets of data across categories
Disadvantage:
depending on the scale /interval it may be difficult to identify

Pictograph-Easy to read ,visually appealing, handles large data sets easily using keyed icons
Hard to quantify partial icons, icons must be of consistent size, best for only 2-6 categories
Circle graphs-displays data as a percentage of the whole but no exact numerical data,
hard to compare 2 data sets, hard time constructing .

line graph are best for showing the changes of data over time (shows trend too).

it can only be use for data that is over time

How can graphs be misleading. Show 3 ways.

1.Distorting the scale(putting a break on y-axis)
2.Distorting the visuals(make the symbol larger than the rest)
3.distorting the size of the bars(make 1 bar wider or put area)

3a) The following chart shows Pizza Sub Sales over a month. What 2 graphs would show the information accurately.

line graph and bar graph.

3b) If you were selling Pizza Subs would you continue? How does your graph explain your answer. Yes,i will continue selling pizza subs because at my graph it shows that pizza subs that are sold increase every week

4.Below you see 2 different examples of graphs showing healthy choices sold at the canteen. If you had to convince Mrs Mota that we should continue selling healthy choices which graph would you choose.bar graph and line graph

4a) Change each graph so that your information looks even MORE impressive. You may not change the data just the graph.

Danicka's Proportion post
task 1

Ratio>compares two quantities measured i the same units
Ex.6:9,6 to 9,6/9
Rate-a comparison of two quantities measured in different units
ex.15 to 20,15:20
Proportion-An equation that says that two ratios or two rates are equal
task 2
5 hours to travel 360 miles is about 72mph

As a playgroup worker, if I increase the amount of apple juice I am serving at the playgroup from 25 ml to 100 ml, how much should I increase the the orange juice to, to keep the quantities in the same proportion? The orange juice is 50 ml to start with.
Answer: 200 ml

task 3
What are the three ways you can prove that equivalent ratio statements are true?3/4 = 12/16 Answers:

horizontal:you multiply 3 by 4 and you get 12 and multiply 4 by 4 to get 16

vertical

diagno:when you multiply 3 by 16 you get 48 and multiply 4 by 16 equals to 20

Task 4

2TASK 5
1. Does it seem Fair?
No its not fair.
2.With what you know about proportion look and read what is in the image above. Does it seem just and fair? Why have you made this choice?I dont think it's fair because the guy that stole $3 billion let him go to jail for 3 yrs and the other guy who stole 100 get to go in jail for 15 years
3.What would you have done if you were the judge? The man that stole $3 Billion will go to jail for 15 years and the man who stole $100 and surendered himself will go to jail for less than a year
