Melina's Square Root Scribe Post.

Definitions of Square Root is in the picture below. 





Textbook Question # 10, 17 and 19 for page 98 - 100. 

10. Kai uses an entire can of paint on a square backdrop for her school play. The label on the can states that one can covers 27m²  of wall surface. Estimate the backdrops side length, to one decimal place.

Answer: 5.2 m. 



17.  Carmel wants to mount an 18 cm x 18 cm square picture on a square board that is four times the area of the picture. 

Answer: 
a) 324cm² 
b) 1296cm²
c) 36 cm x 36 cm          


19. Estimate the square root of 160 100. Explain how you determined your estimate.   

Answer: Square root of 160 100 = 400.

 Pythagorean relationship: 
The Pythagorean relationship  is the relationship between the lengths of each side of the right triangle. The sum of the areas of the square attached to the legs of the right triangle equals to the sum of the area to the square attached to the hypotenuse.

3. Is this a right triangle? Prove it!!


































Answer: 
No it is not a right triangle, because the sum of the area of the square attached to the legs of the right triangle does NOT equal to the are of the square attached to the hypotenuse.
